Sous Vide Time Calculator

Privacy policy

Effective date: October 15, 2026. Last updated: October 15, 2026.

This policy explains what information sousvidetimecalculator.com collects when you visit and how it is used. The site is owned and operated by Nate and Kait LLC, a California limited liability company ("we" and "us"). We are the controller of the information described here. You can reach us at [email protected] or by mail at 10629 Hardin Valley Rd #214, Knoxville, TN 37932.

What the calculator does with your entries

The food, thickness, doneness and units you choose are processed in your browser to show the result. We do not ask for your name, email address or any account, and the site has no sign-in. You do not have to give us any information to use the calculator. We do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Why we use information

  • To run the calculator and keep the site secure and available. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
  • To remember your unit settings and your privacy choice. These are saved in your browser, as described below.
  • To measure which pages and foods are used, with Google Analytics. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To measure page load performance, with Cloudflare Web Analytics. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site fast and working.
  • To answer your emails and handle privacy requests. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to you and keeping a record of requests.
  • If ads are shown, to show and measure them. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we will ask for your consent through a consent message before personalized ads are shown.

Information collected automatically

Google Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and foods are used. It records information such as the pages you view, the food you pick in the calculator, your browser and device type, the site that referred you, and your approximate location. Google says that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses, and that it uses IP addresses to provide and secure the service and to show approximate location. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies. Google Analytics keeps event data for the period set in our account, which is no longer than 14 months.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Analytics loads only after you click Accept in the cookie choices message. We find your country from the request to our host, Cloudflare. If we cannot find your country, we treat you as if you are in one of these regions and ask first. Country detection is not exact, and a VPN can change the result. Everywhere else, Google Analytics loads by default after you first interact with a page, or a few seconds after the page loads. In every region you can change your choice at any time with the Privacy choices button in the footer. If you decline, Google Analytics stays off and we delete the Google Analytics cookies (named _ga) that this site set.

Google describes how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Cloudflare. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare handles each request to the site and may keep server logs that include your IP address. Cloudflare's own policy describes this at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. The site also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for all visitors, which measures page load performance with your browser's Performance API. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors' personal data and does not use cookies or local storage (Cloudflare documentation). Cloudflare states that it keeps unsampled Web Analytics data for 7 days and then aggregates it (Cloudflare FAQ).

Stored in your browser. The calculator saves your temperature unit and length unit in your browser's local storage so they are set the next time you visit. The site also saves your cookie choice in local storage for 13 months. You can clear these items in your browser settings.

Who receives information

We share information with these service providers and no one else:

  • Google (Google LLC and its affiliates), for Google Analytics and, if we turn them on, Google AdSense or Google Ad Manager.
  • Cloudflare, Inc., for hosting, security and Web Analytics.
  • Our email provider, if you email us.

We do not sell your information for money.

Transfers outside your country

We and our providers are based in or process information in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, your information may be sent to the United States. Cloudflare states that it relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and on standard contractual clauses if those lapse (Cloudflare privacy policy). Google describes how it handles transfers in its privacy policy. You can ask us for details at [email protected].

Advertising

This site may show ads served by Google (Google AdSense or Google Ad Manager). Third parties, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. How Google uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and how Google uses data in advertising is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

You can manage personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings or through the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we will show a consent message and ask for your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time with the Privacy choices button in the footer. We detect your country as described above.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. The services above may set them. Local storage is a similar browser feature, which the site uses for your unit settings and your privacy choice. You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. The calculator still works with cookies blocked, but your unit settings may not be remembered.

Do Not Track. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. The site does not change how it works in response to Do Not Track signals. Other parties, such as Google, may collect information about your online activities across different sites when you use this site, as described above.

How long we keep information

  • Google Analytics event data: no longer than 14 months.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: unsampled data for 7 days, then aggregated, as Cloudflare states. Cloudflare server logs are kept as Cloudflare's policy describes.
  • Your unit settings stay in your browser until you clear them. Your privacy choice is saved for 13 months.
  • Emails and records of requests: as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of your request, then deleted.

Your choices and rights

You can block cookies, use the opt-out links above, change your choice with the Privacy choices button, or clear your browser's local storage at any time. You can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect use of your information before you withdrew it.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict its use, object to its use, or send you a copy. To make a request, email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We may ask for details to find your information. We aim to reply within 30 days. Because the site has no accounts, we may hold little or no information that can be linked to you.

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them to reply, to keep a record of your request, and to meet legal duties.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may complain to your data protection authority. In the United Kingdom this is the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk.

US residents

Some US states give residents rights to know, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. If ads are shown, advertising cookies may count as sharing for cross-context advertising under some state laws. You can opt out with the Privacy choices button in the footer. We do not treat people differently for using these rights. To use them, email [email protected].

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and runs on Cloudflare. We do not collect passwords or payment details. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Guides on this site link to sources such as government and university food safety pages. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Children

The site is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the dates at the top of this page. For material changes, we will say so at the top of this page.
